Why did you want to work at Emerson?
I applied to teach Language Arts and Social Studies, ended up starting a Latin program as well as teach LA/SS.
What wows you about Emerson School?
They figured I could actually start a Latin program, and proceeded to allow me to do just that. They also let me teach my favorite subjects.
In one word, what is your working style?
Pragmatic
How would students describe you?
Insane, awesome, hilarious, provides interesting examples, is a good teacher overall
If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why?
Time travel….so I could be like Doctor Who. Plus, a working TARDIS would be super handy to own.
Favorite artist or band?
Great Big Sea
What would surprise people about you?
I speak Latin at summer camps with other nerdy people. I perform in community theatre and direct a Shakespeare in the Park show for free in Pinckney in June every year.
What do you do when you’re not at Emerson?
Quilting and writing

Doctor Who, my Grandpa Merritt
What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
White Russian fudge
If a movie were made about you, who would be cast to play you?
Sir Patrick Stewart or Stephen Colbert….though my students maintain I’d have to play myself.
Favorite quote, or anything else you would like Emerson families to know about you?
I can laugh like the Wicked Witch, and “Don’t eat in the Hall.” Also: “Beware of the pink noodle.”
