What year did you start at Emerson?
I was a Summer at Emerson counselor 2015-2018 and began subbing in 2021, but 2022 will be my first time back full-time since I started as a student in 2006!

Why did you want to work at Emerson?
Emerson has been a home to me in one way or another for 15+ years. It’s where I learned to love school when I was a student, and more recently, it’s where I’ve discovered how much I love working in Education. The passion and kindness of this community is so energizing and inspiring! There’s nowhere else I’d rather be to dive into this field and no other students and coworkers I’d rather do it with!

What wows you about Emerson?
How dedicated the students, teachers, and staff all are, not only to learning and to inviting each other to grow academically and emotionally, but also to creating and fostering a supportive, inclusive, healthy, and fun(!) environment to do so in.

In one word, what is your working style?
Active!

How would students describe you?
Relentlessly upbeat and always on my toes

Favorite artist or band?
Artist: Mark Rothko, Band: The Killers

What do you do when you’re not at Emerson?
I help coach lacrosse at Pioneer High School, and I love doing trivia nights around town with friends, spending time with my family Up North, and watching Michigan sports

Who/what inspires you?
Those with the courage to accept or ask for help, and those who are able to notice the need and respond to it. For me, that second group has often included teachers and coaches, and always my mom.

What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
Blank Slate’s Garden Mint Chip

If a movie were made about you, who would be cast to play you?
Kristen Bell (I’d wish!)

Favorite quote, or anything else you would like Emerson families to know about you?
« Aimer, c’est agir » or, “To love is to act” –Victor Hugo
