Why did you want to work at Emerson?
I wanted to work somewhere where all staff truly care about and nurture students as individuals and meet them where they are, together scaffolding layers of learning as the year goes on.
What wows you about Emerson?
The overall community-feel: incredible warmth, knowledge, a sense of fun and love of life and learning. I like the efforts Emerson makes to help the environment and promote inclusion and celebrating the differences that make us all unique.
In one word, what is your working style?
Enthusiastic.
How would students describe you?
Hmmmmm….I hope they might come up with words like “fair,’ ‘kind,’ ‘fun’ and ‘caring.’ I want them to feel respected and valued.
If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why?
Could it be the power to solve world problems promoting peace and equity? If not, then I would choose flying as I am a bird enthusiast and would enjoy spending time in the sky and tree tops with various bird species.
Favorite artist or band?
As an 80s gal (but also an appreciator of many new artists), this is tough. It changes all the time but maybe Indigo Girls.
What would surprise people about you?
I love heights: hot air ballooning, parasailing, elevated obstacle courses, ridge hiking.
What do you do when you’re not at Emerson?
I hang with my partner and our twin teens and our two dogs…pickleball, reading, walks or deck chats with friends and seeing concerts, plays, improv theater and movies when I can.
Who/what inspires you?
People who lift others up and make others feel like they can be comfortably themselves. Nature also inspires me: sunrises and sunsets, trees and flowers, rivers and lakes…
What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
Almond Joy ice cream! Or cookies & Cream!
If a movie were made about you, who would be cast to play you?
Melissa McCarthy, Chrissy Metz or Rosie O’Donnell
