What year did you start at Emerson?
2021
Why did you want to work at Emerson?
I loved the culture of creativity immediately. It’s reflected in the diversity and the curriculum, as well as the arts. That was an immediate hook.
What wows you about Emerson?
I’m new, so I feel like an answer a year from now would be more complete. I can say that, in moving here from Georgia, I was totally interested in the school’s mission. I feel very fortunate – and inspired – to join the team.
In one word, what is your working style?
Community-oriented.
How would students describe you?
Punny.
If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why?
I would like to be able to fly at will. I would also like to be able to land.
Favorite artist or band?
Sting.
What would surprise people about you?
I am a retired Marine. If you met me on the street you would totally not guess that.
What do you do when you’re not at Emerson?
I cook, read about food, entertain, and travel with my husband (to find regional food). Increasingly, we devote time to walking/biking/kayaking off my hobby.
Who/what inspires you?
Steve Martin. He started out as a philosophy major in college, but obviously, most people know him as an incredible comic. But he’s done everything:, serious roles, writing (including drama), Broadway, and has now moved onto Bluegrass, for which he’s got a Grammy to his name. I find that kind of depth amazing.
What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
Coffee
If a movie were made about you, who would be cast to play you?
Maybe Jamie Leigh Curtis, because of the hair. But the screenplay would have to be written by Tina Fey.
Favorite quote, or anything else you would like Emerson families to know about you?
“I think I’m quite ready for another adventure!” ~Bilbo Baggins
