Why did you want to work at Emerson?
I thought middle school would be an interesting group to teach.
What wows you about Emerson School?
The creative leeway teachers have to create lessons.
In one word, what is your working style?
Hard core pragmatic
How would students describe you?
A fun and caring teacher who expects a lot.
If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why?
Time travel, so I could have extra hours to proof student papers and get really cool guest speakers for my classes.
Favorite artist or band?
I like Monet…but I don’t think he has any albums out.
What would surprise people about you?
I know the lyrics to LOTS of songs from the 1950s and 1960s.
What do you do when you’re not at Emerson?
Write, quilt, make booknooks that light up, and sleep if I’m lucky.
Who/what inspires you?
My father, my Grandpa Merritt, and anyone who has gotten a novel traditionally published.
What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
Black Cherry and Mango Sorbet mixed up
If a movie were made about you, who would be cast to play you?
Scarlett Johannsen, because….why not?
